  • All breeding stock has an OFA normal/clear rating for both elbows.
  • All breeding stock is cleared of any genetic eye anomalies by using an ACVO exam.
  • All breeding stock is cleared of any genetic heart diseases/anomalies by an echocardiogram performed by a board-certified veterinary cardiologist.
  • We will never breed any combination of parents to produce an EIC, PRA, or HNPK affected puppy.

“Puppy Information”

The following information will explain how we sell our puppies as well as what you are getting when you buy a puppy from us.

  • Seminole Labradors supports AKC limited registration. We do not sell any puppies with AKC full registration. AKC limited registration means that the dog can not be bred, and it can not compete in AKC conformation events.
  • We only breed a litter to improve our breeding program. When we decide to breed a litter it is because we want something to keep for our program. We do not sell puppies deemed to be “show quality.” Any puppy that we have available for sale is intended for a loving pet/companion home, a performance home to compete in obedience, rally, agility, dock diving, etc., or a potential hunting companion.
  • We always get first choice in any litter. We start to evaluate the puppies around 5 weeks. We continue evaluating the puppies through 8 weeks, and even longer. After the evaluation is done we will keep as many puppies as we want to from any litter. Generally by 8 weeks we have a good idea of which puppies will be staying with us, and which puppies will be going to companion homes. The differences between the two are very subtle and would not be detected by the general public. Our litters tend to be very consistent with temperament and type. We are looking for just the slightest differences in conformation to determine the ones we keep for our breeding/showing program.
  • All of our breeding females have passed all pertinent health clearances. Health and temperament are of the utmost importance in our breeding program. While some breeders will breed dogs with failed OFA hips or elbows, Seminole Labradors will not! Wherever you choose to buy a labrador puppy from I would strongly encourage you to request that said breeder prove the health clearances on the parents of the litter.
  • Puppies are sold to approved homes. We encourage email correspondence when making initial contact. However we will require a face to face interview, or over the phone interview before selling a puppy to anyone.
  • We do not sell puppies through email, or the internet. These are great tools to put us in contact with prospective puppy buyers, but no final decisions are made without an in person interview, or phone interview.
  • We do not ship puppies.
  • We do require puppy buyers to put down a small deposit for their puppy. The deposit is to show that the prospective buyer is serious. The deposit is non refundable. The deposit is applied to the total purchase price of the puppy.
  • No puppies will be released to their new homes prior to the puppies being 8 weeks of age or older.
  • All puppies sold will be up to date on all vaccinations, wormings, etc.
  • We deworm our puppies at 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 weeks.
  • All puppies sold will be accompanied with a Florida Health Certificate provided by a licensed veterinarian.
  • Our puppies will come with “puppy packs” which includes your puppy contract, pictures of the parents, pedigree and health certificates, pertinent information about the puppy, health records for the puppy, other helpful information about your new puppy, and a few goodies from us.
  • Our puppies will be well socialized.
  • All puppies will be micro chipped. Micro chips are important aids in recovering a lost/stolen dog.

“How We Raise Our Puppies”

Here at Seminole Labradors we believe in raising puppies properly. We want to maximize each puppies potential. We spend a lot of time during the first eight weeks of the puppies lives socializing them. It is very important to expose puppies to various new stimuli. Our puppies receive lots of handling, love, attention, etc throughout this process. The first eight weeks of a puppies life are crucial to the puppies development. This is a very narrow window of time, and puppies develop rapidly.  Below are some techniques that we use when raising our puppies.

“Super Dogs”

The U.S. Military developed a program to improve the performance of dogs called “Bio-Sensor.” It has since become known to the public as the “Super Dog” program. “Bio-Sensor” is early neurological stimulation for puppies that has important and lasting effects. The studies of the U.S Military confirmed there is a specific window of time early in life when neurological stimulation has the best results. This window begins on the third day of life, and lasts until the sixteenth day. During this important period of time the puppies undergo rapid neurological growth.

“Bio-Sensor” program consists of five exercises to be completed once daily per puppy. Each exercise is performed for a 5 second period. The exercises are as follows:

  • Hold puppy with head up
  • Hold puppy with head down
  • Hold puppy in the supine position
  • Tactile Stimulation (Between toes)
  • Thermal Stimulation

These five exercises performed on the puppies produce neurological stimulations that do not naturally occur during this window of life. The following are a few benefits that puppies will receive when these exercises are performed correctly:

  • Improved Cardiovascular Performance (Better heart rates)
  • Stronger Heart Beats
  • Stronger Adrenal Glands
  • More Tolerance to Stress
  • Greater Resistance to Disease

A final word about the “Bio-Sensor” program. It is a great program with many great benefits when performed correctly. However it is important to note these exercises are most beneficial during a short window of time very early in life. You can’t go back and get this later on in the dog/puppies life. Therefore it is crucially important to perform these exercises during the specific time window.

“Nail Trims”

We start trimming our puppies nails just days after they are born. From then on we trim them about once every week. It is important to keep the puppies nails trimmed short as this helps keep their feet tight, and helps them walk better. We trim the puppies nails with regular nail clippers. Once the puppies get older we use a dremel tool to grind their nails. In order to prepare puppies for dremel nail trims later in their lives we expose them to an electric toothbrush. We use the electric toothbrush on their feet to simulate the noise, and feel of an actual dremel tool.

“Health Guarantees”

We do offer a written health guarantee on our puppies. All of our puppies will have a Florida Health Certificate from a licensed veterinarian. This states that the puppy has been checked by a veterinarian, and is a healthy puppy. The puppy is not sick, free of worms, and current on vaccinations. Our health guarantee lasts for 72 hours. We strongly recommend that you take your new puppy to your own veterinarian within 72 hours and have it checked out. If by some chance your veterinarian believes there is something wrong with your puppy we will take the puppy back. The puppy must be returned to Seminole Labradors with all documentation that came with it. We will then give you a full refund.

We do not offer a health guarantee on hips or elbows. All of our puppies are sold as pets. They are not sold to be breeding animals, or compete in shows. All of our breeding stock has been cleared by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals and is free of any canine hip dysplasia, or elbow dysplasia. However mother nature can always throw you a curveball due to things out of our control. We will never breed any dog that has hip dysplasia, or elbow dysplasia. However there is no guarantee by breeding two clear dogs that a puppy will be free from dysplasia. For this reason we do not guarantee hips or elbows. These are living breathing animals, and many things can happen outside of our control.
